Taps & Drills  

Use plenty of cutting/cooling oil when tapping or drilling. You can't use too much so pour it on. I use plain ol' SAE 5W-20 non-detergent motor oil.
If your carbide drill starts chattering or vibrating, quickly lessen the pressure. You're about to break a circa $20 bit.

The taps directly below are Carbon Steel and in 6-40, 6-48, 8-40 and
10-32. A list of 3-56, 4-40, 4-48, 5-40 and 5-44 taps is here on this page. Beneath each tap size is the proper tap and clearance drills. The drills are jobber length and High Speed Steel. The carbide drills are regular length and solid carbide in #16, #21, #25, #28, #31, #33 and 13/64" for now. A list of just those carbide drills is near the bottom of this page.

Jobber length = ~ 3". Regular length = ~2 1/2".

Note! Carbide drills are brittle! They break easily. They also go through most steel like a hot knife through butter. If you aren't careful, you'll find yourself with a hole all the way through your rifle barrel.

Note! My carbide drills can best be described as beautiful. They look like polished silver jewels.

Note! Due to their fragile nature, I won't guarantee taps, dies and carbide drills. However, all my HSS drills carry a 100% guarantee. If you don't like one for any reason, throw it away and let me know if you want another drill, its shipping on me, or if you want your money back. I'll 100% refund the cost of the drill, but I won't refund your $3 shipping.
